This project is an Apple IIgs ROM01. The process of locating all the schematics, firmware images, softcores and ASIC is currently underway. Once we have all the material needed to define the system we hope to start a design assessment.
The Apple IIgs project is comprised of a single .zip containing an Altium Project and several pre-compiled bit stream images ready to download. The IIgs project will support cross vendor targets including the Xilinx XC3S1500, the Altera Cyclone II as well as the Xilinx Virtex 4 SX and LX devices.
The soft IIgs will be a standard ROM01 IIgs configuration:
- Up to 16MB RAM
- 65C816 CPU (2.8MHz)
- PS2 Keyboard
- PS2 Mouse
- Compact Flash Card Interface (ProFile)
- 640x480 VGA display.
- Support is available for six Apple IIgs peripheral boards when used with PB10.
- An optional Accelerator (when used in conjunction with a Virtex 4).
The Apple IIgs project is in it's preliminary stages, and is only being laid out at this point. Sourcing information for the design has become a time-consuming task, as information specific to the IIgs ASIC's is difficult to locate. If you have any information on the IIgs that you would be happy to share, it would be very much welcome and appreciated, as reverse engineering some aspects of this system is incredibly time consuming.
